Games

Dan's Game
We learnt this card game from the South Africans during our long wait in Aguas Calientes after the Inca Trail. We thought it was pretty good, so Melinda has written out the rules for us!

4 cards face down- only allowed to look at 2 closest to you once, at the very beginning of the game. Aim is to get least points at the end. If you think you have the least (must be <5) you can clap twice after your turn and everyone gets one more chance to improve their score after which all cards are turned over. If you do indeed have the lowest you score 0 but if not you get 20pts and everyone else gets minus 10pts, so you must be sure!

Ace- counts as 1 point
2 - counts as 2
... Jack is 11, Q is 12
Red kings are zero but black kings are 13

The cards 7&8 if picked up and discarded (can't come from your 4 table cards) mean you can look at one of your cards. Same rules for 9 & 10 but you look at someone else's. If Jack is picked up it means you can swop one of your cards for someone else's- but no looking at either card during swop!

If you have for eg a 5 on the table and the person before you discards a 5 then as your turn you may discard your tabled 5 (so you'll be left with 3 instead of 4). If however you've forgotten where your 5 is and you turn over a different card, you have to then pick the 5 up and play with 5 cards...

Enjoy!! Game only works if drinking lots of wine :-)
